While divorce requires at least one party to be a resident of Nevada, Nevada family courts can grant annulments to non-resident couples who married here.
Annulments are harder to obtain than divorces. Successful annulments serve to treat the marriage as if it never existed, and Nevada family courts look at very specific factors in determining whether an annulment should be granted. Examples include bigamy (prior valid marriage to another person), incest (spouses are closely related by blood), fraud, and want of understanding (impaired mental state).
