Casa Esperanza understands that traveling for medical treatment may cause additional emotional and financial strain on families. To help alleviate these burdens, Casa Esperanzas Family Care Team works with our families to provide the following resources:
Coordinate community dinners at Casa Esperanza
Provide family food boxes
Provide transportation assistance such as taxi vouchers and shuttle services to UNM hospital and clinics
Facilitate lodging assistance
Facilitates access to healthcare, and social services, and disseminates information
Encourages informed decision making, self-efficacy, and disease self-management skills
Improve the resident's quality of life by reducing barriers to care, and alleviating financial burdens
Provide a supportive, culturally sensitive environment based on shared experiences and connection
Enhance access to our services through our bilingual program staff who determine each familys need through individual assessments and information collected during initial check-in
Identifies and addresses implicit bias that could hinder patient-provider interactions and communication
