Medicare is a Federal health insurance program for seniors and other individuals with certain medical conditions and disabilities. It is often confused with Medicaid, a Federal-State health insurance program for people with limited resources.
Medicare was created to help pay medical bills and was started in 1965 and run by CMS. There are 4 parts to Medicare: Part A – Hospital Insurance; Part B – Medical Insurance; Part C – Medicare Advantage plans; and Part D – Prescription Drug Coverage. There are 2 types of Medicare coverages: Medicare Advantage plans, which are generally HMO networks; and Medicare Supplement plans, all of which are nationwide PPO plans.
This can be a very confusing subject, so give us a call, and we will help you become better acquainted with your Medicare benefits, options, and entitlements.
